Do You Like What You See?

An Original Poem

I dress myself in my favourite

Lace bra and matching panties

Standing in front of him.

Do you like what you see?

I paint myself dancing in the sky

Nothing but skin and stars

Reaching out to him.

Do you like what you see?

I write myself on a journey,

So much tragedy and progress,

Still learning to smile for him.

Do you like what you see?

I bare myself to the mirror

Count the flaws and scars

That I wish I could show him.

I don’t like what I see.

I rip myself to tiny shreds

Tear the flesh and expose the red

Bony wrists that hide from him.

Do you like what you see?
