Do You?

Do you........."
It was all too surreal for her to really hear what the preacher was saying, she knew it was somewhere between the usual legal archaic shit and the beautiful words she wrote while feeling all the love in her heart for him. They thought it would never end; she was a woman, he was a gutter rat. But somehow they connected and it was so perfect.
"I do," she blurted out with unbridled excitement and love, between the beautiful tears running down her angel face.
"I do," he said with complete pride, and a touch of confusion how he was standing with her; him, a street kid, with scars all over, inside and out.
But that was then.
So long ago.
"I married a monster," she screamed at him through tears which tore her heart apart, the kind that make a woman age faster.
But she knew who I was before she gave me hope that I could be loved again.
She knew who I was and nothing changed.
"You love me and hate me for all the same things."
"Who do you want me to be?"
She didn't know what she wanted
She didn't know herself
She was attracted to the bad boy outlaw who he was, who he is. I guess she thought he would be different by now. But if she bothered to ask, she'd know that he didn't even know how, or why he would change.
Who was he supposed to be?
Was he supposed to hate himself too?
