Divine Dementia

A Feast of Fools

There was several hours to burn

before the show

So I turned on the radio

(Amos and Andy voices on the radio)

Someone spoke of changing the world

A bomb was heard in the distance

A mute man was seen in a dime museum &

Signs that the end is near

He went to visit the old wise woman

on the boardwalk

Candle lit seer

The Mistress Mystic

Madam Marie

dressed in the colors of a rainbow ruse

A green eyed broad

with a wide array of wisdom

Cold psychic reader

Sees the universe

within your soul

Tarot woman

Gazing into the future

Sees who you are

Telling you what you want to hear

A Wheel of Fortune

She speaks softly. Wisely.

She says:

"Fear the Clowns who are secret among us

The Killer Clown that hides deep within

Go, see him inside the mirror"

He laughed nervously

with a frightened look

hands shaking

as if he'd just seen a ghost

A possessed jester

hiding deep within

The death bell chimes

(sound of a gong)

"I'm getting out of here!"

his mind screamed

"I'm going home

to the other side of sanity."

The Fool's Journey

Upside-Down

In search of

Newborn wisdom

A Clown Society

Heyóka, the sacred clown

& his ancient smiley scepter

Laughing like an insane martyr

Showing what is wrong with the way things are

Showing us how to do ordinary things the wrong way

A Feast of Fools

Marched backwards in a somber

Funeral procession

into the night

Dead sock lies cold in a box

Death clock

Veiled in black

A silent threnody

Wisdom of the crazed gods

In mute sedation
