Destroyed Soul

Poem

Scoop me up and take me away, run and don't let me stay

A path of destruction left behind me, fires, fights and painful souls

Take me away, and run so fast, I don't want to see the devastation left on the path

Pain streaks through me, breaking my bones, wearing me down, destroying my soul

I lay here crying, the need for comfort a comfort that never comes where are you?

I hear the laughing, the music, the parties the sound of your happiness while gloom looms over my body destroying my soul.

Eyes sore and red, tears dried trying to stick them together making me blind, as blood flows from me telling me what I could not have.

The blood running free, a sign that it was real, that you existed and the world is a cruel place, I just want some comfort but instead I lay here alone.

My mind asking me why, why you would care about drinking more than me, why you would care about drugs more than my soul.

My body crippling in pain, my soul screaming out loud, the sound of a broken woman looking for comfort, the comfort that never comes.

I lay here listening to you, having fun, like this is a celebration like you're celebrating my distress, my hurt and my destroyed soul.

Your laughter a sign you're celebrating, while the more blood that runs free, the more I lose my soul.
