Depression

We will never be normal.

Depression

It’s not just a feeling that goes away eventually

It pops up out of nowhere

You can hear a song or a word and be sent into a spiral of sadness

Some of the littlest things will take you back to the darkest days of your life

And it doesn’t just go away

So stop telling me that depression isn’t an illness

Every sickness has some kind of cure weather it’s permanent or not

But depression is one of the hardest to cure

There is no cure

There is no way to just pop a pill and be happy

We can act like everything is ok

But we go home

Behind closed doors

And die a little inside

Everyday we fade more and more

Until one day we can’t take it anymor

And we do the unthinkable

We take our own lives

Our own precious lives that I believe God has sculpted perfectly

And it’s gone with one choice

But people assume that that was a irrational decision but the truth is

Suicidal people don’t just decide one day to take their lives

There’s always a reason

So don’t ever say suicidal people are selfish

Because you could be the very reason that person committed suicide

They didn’t do it for themselves they did it for you

We wanted a happy life

A normal life

But you were so determined to make our lives a living hell to make yours better

That you made us feel so worthless that you drove us to kill ourselves

we get so sick and tired of you happy people telling us to get over it like it’s a middle school break up or something

Depression is serious and should be something no one should have to go through alone

When you hear kids say their slitting their wrists don’t tell them to stop

Tell them you want to help them get through this

Because we don’t need to be yelled at because I promise you are making everything worse

We can’t control this illness

We don’t choose this illness

So stop acting like we have the choice to just stop on command

Nobody knows what a person is going through

Because it’s so easy to just put a smile on your face and hide all the hurt in your heart

You can’t just look us in the eyes and tell us to cheer up

We may have learned to smile and hide the hurt but we can’t forget it

It’s always with us

We always worry about when our next depression pop up will be

When we will have to sneak to the bathroom during an activity to cry and then come back out acting like everything is ok

We struggle with the fact that no one really understands because everyone’s depression is different

We struggle with the fact that no one asks us if we are ok

We struggle with the fact that we will never be normal
