Deep Water

Poetry

Who inhabits this lake?

Let him come forth

The Master of Sea Monsters

and bad dreams

The fortune teller

of fathomless seas

How trapped is he

this watery spirit

a decimated dreamer

silenced by still water

Come wash my soul

of the currents of memory

the giant crests of waves

and disguises

Spill your secrets

the ones buried

in boxed treasure chests

unwind the riddles

of this blazing blue water

All the world is adrift

upon an uncertain sea

and I grasp upward

to flee the eventual sinking

Where are you now,

Great One?

floating to the edges

even as I near

the end of the pier
