"The Dea in the Machina" by Ashley Aikey
I want to focus on the things I loveOn school and books and writing booksBut the real world is knockingBreaking the door downAnd I have debts that I must payI have debts that I must payI have debtsI haveNothingNothing to giveNo time no energy no headspaceI am all used up trying to fitTrying to make it all workI hurtSo I sitBut the sitting still means hurtingAnd the hurting means more pillsCall me what I amDisabledAnd as yet unfulfilledBut I’m tryingTrying to make it fitWhile the real world’s knockingClawing at my willReminding me of my debtsThe debts I must repayWhile I strive to be fulfilled
Debt
A poem about the struggle to follow your dream while dealing with the reality of the world we live in. How do we balance between reaching for the stars and being practical?
