Dear Summer, Thank You

A Lil' Thanks for the Good Days

Thank you, Summer,

thanks for the long days and warm nights

thank you for the sea salt smell

for all the tan lines and the good times

the sun kisses and the beautiful bridges

The flickering of the lightning bugs

the blasted earplugs

the good books with the amazing hooks

the vacations that open your mind

so you're inclined to unwind

sights that take your breath away

going to Broadway and going underground to take the subway.

Or to the ocean breeze dotted with the green palm trees

wildflowers as far as you can see

going to the fair and getting cotton candy

the lights, and the bug bites

grass stains and time goin down the drain

music blaring

driving by the occasional herring

smelling the roses lilacs

at the beach with snacks

nature poetry
