Dear Lori Dickson
Response to your writing
After reading your poems, I felt your pain,
the guilt I sometimes have makes me feel insane.
So often my mind dives deep into such sadness,
again and again, this pattern of madness.
However, I do hope to share with you some hope,
so that you can learn some powerful ways to cope.
Let me tell you about someone who has inspired me,
his presence is like nothing else and he has made me free.
He is the spirit of the risen one who died long ago,
he conquered sin, death, hell, the grave, and many a foe.
Now, I am not meaning to preach to you,
but rather just share my testimony, that for me has been true.
He has given me comfort when no one was around,
he has given me joy when I thought none was to be found.
He has set my feet on the ground that is solid and pure,
and many times he has mended my heart, bringing me a cure.
With him, I feel purpose every day even when I start to wonder,
but he has been more than patient, so of him, I grow all the fonder.
So, all this to say, I plead with you to study his life,
study why he did what he did, and all his grief and strife.
The books, known as the gospels, are a great place to start,
I believe you'll find that his life will keep you from breaking apart.
He has given me hope for a future of his steadfastness,
and every day his mysteries are unlocked as I learn his vastness.
