Dear Future Lover (A Poem)
Here is a list of things you should know before dating me.
1) my favorite color is blue, It matches my friends
2) I think roses are overrated, yet if you buy me a dozen you will be my favorite person in the world for a while.
3) actually just skip the flowers and buy me food, preferably Italian, yet taco bell will do.
4) I hate heights, mostly because I dreamt a lot as a kid of throwing myself off of tall cliffs and dying. I still have those feelings sometimes.
5) Do Not play country music around me, for then you will know the feeling of my rage. However I will plan a trip to Tennessee with you probably.
6) you need to be open to a polyamorous relationship with me, for I may just look like one female, but I come with friends, whom I have known almost all my life, and they just want your love too.
7) Each of my "friends" will fight for dominance over me, even though you can't see them tugging my arms from their sockets
8) you will come home sometimes to me panicking over nothing, or hear my voice shift, or find me sitting on the floor surrounded by my own tears, feeling as though my life is not my own. That is how you know Anxiety has won the battle over the shiny toy, however I no longer shine.
10) you will walk in, and see that I haven't left the bed, or the couch. You will ask me how I am and I will tell you I feel like I am drowning in a well I have built, I will weep over nothing, and tell you that you are lying when you say you love me. That is when you know Depression has won the battle for the smiling dolly, yet I will not smile.
12) you will know when I fake smile, or maybe you won't.... Since no one ever seems to.
13) I promise I will be okay, I might not believe it at the time, but there will be days neither of them win, and I want you to know I will always be okay. But for added insurance, please just let me know you care, and don't change the channel when I turn on a musical.
14) I hope you are into Polyamory, just there is never just me, but me and my two friends.
15) and we all love you, even when it seems like we never will....
