Dear Dad

The One I Never Knew

Even the devil said no

So why would I ever accept

You denied me

So what could you ever expect

False sense of love

A Myriad of regret

Yeah your only human

So those feelings are tough to neglect

You chose your pride

Over helping me through my tough times

So my reward for you

is to give you the pain I have inside, This one time

You see

Now let's get this clear, for you I have no hate

Cause the ghost of Christmas past is all you emulate

It's tough to see that you've changed

Cause I have no comparisons to make

My mother told me stories

Of how you were a very respected man

And yet you disrespected her

Every time you raised your hands

Don't you worry though

She raised me to be a good man

She taught me compassion with a touch of femininity

So value women like you value yourself is what she instilled in me

Over the years

I've fought with the thought that you would reach out

But over time I realized I was just punching clouds

So let the image of me burn in your mind

Let these words be the sign that remind

Your Impassioned outreach serene a facade

A mirage of a father-son bond

That faded away the first time you let bygones be the bye and gone
