Day In, Day Out

Welcome to the rest of your 9-5.

I never wanted to be one of these robots,

who lived for their weekend.

An endless dose of day in, day out.

Bank Holidays designed to prevent people from quitting their jobs-

Or topping their heads.

Christmas all the same.

Wait it's nearly Friday!

Fuck, now it's Sunday night.

Same again.

Day in.

Day out.

What would you like with your main course today; chips or salad?

(Well I should have salad, but I don't care.)

''Chips please''

Same again, day in day out.

Same faces.

Same route.

I never want to stay as one of these people,

Who live for their weekend.

''Sorry I'm late this morning there was traffic (not really though, I just didn't want to get out of bed)''

I am a wanderer, I have potential.

I wish to seek out the world.

I favour spontaneity,

Not security;

For that can be gained later.

But right now, I'm here.

And I'm losing -

My happy mind, my wondrous soul, my passionate goals.

It's being gobbled up

By same old, same old.

Do you not thrive with positive change?

Do you not seek adventure?

Do you not wish to see whole new parts of our great big world?

Why not?

I don't favour this mundane nature, called 9-5.

It's not for me.

It's bad for the soul.
