Darts

This is where our truths lie.

Loving her was like licking a battery

It was all fun and games until I couldn't feel my tongue

Loving her was like playing a good old game of darts

But I was the board and she the player

And let me tell you

The bullseye was on my heart

And of course, she was an excellent shot

Why wouldn't she be?

She'd been an archer for years

Her bow was her lips

And her words, arrows that always found my body no matter where I was

Her intents were venom coating the tip of her words

Paralyzing my body, mind, and spirit

Loving her was like standing in the rain

Except the rain was acidic

But I stood there anyway

Because love can make a man destroy the very fiber of his own being

Loving her is looking at the scars on my body

They remind me that even though she's gone

I'm still here
