Cursed Blessing

Ever have someone come into your life who was both a blessing and a curse at the same time?

Your name

quickens the beat of my heart

Your face

causes my blood to rush.

A blessing,

you came into my life.

Never again

would anything be the same.

Knowing you

could never be mine

brings nothing but tears.

I don’t exist

in your little world.

No amount of hope

could change the outcome.

Here I sit

cursed by your presence

everywhere I turn.

Daily life

operates on disbelief.

Absently walking through

the days.

What could be a blessing

at the same time

is a cruel,

harsh curse.

Author's Note:

I signed up for poetry prompts, which is what I’ll be using for my poems from now on. The prompt for this was about being in disbelief by someone who could be a blessing to you, and at the same time could be a curse. This poem is about someone who has come into your life who you, at once, thought was special, coming to you at a time that you thought was perfect. But then you soon discover they were nothing but a curse, bringing nothing but hurt.
