Cross and Pass
Wear the costume of bright yellow and orange of someone kind emulating the brightness of the sun.
People can preach support,
pretend that they’re present,
act as though they actually care.
Wear the costume of bright yellow and orange
of someone kind
emulating the brightness of the sun.
But a disguise is always different
from the person below.
The bright colors come off,
overcome by the dark blackness
oozing from within
who mutters and whispers
small cruelties behind your back,
preaching judgment of you to others
instead of looking at you directly.
I wish I could still be surprised
when I cross this bridge for the dozenth time.
Passing by another person as they look away
then going our separate ways.
But oh well, we’re all the same
choking on our own poison
then splattering it out everywhere.
People always show their true colors
sooner or later.
