I fell for you yesterday
Why did I fall for you I mean we were just okay
Why did you have to walk me around and fight for my stupid coupon
You were sick and I was okay
My plan was just to drop you off
Now I am going insane just thinking about your face,
Thinking about your smile and how you sat looking out the train
with one small tear drop holding on to your eye lashes
As if to say that this one coupon victory was not just a single victory
but a victory of many small victories
that me and you will embrace
if we decided to live together under one name

I promise her. I'd do anything for her. She's my mom. Even as Lanie and Deanna are flying home, Mom is scrappy fighting dying. She lays too still in that too-big bed with all the toasty white hospital blankets, in the south tower, at the broad end of a long slow-turning corner that delivers me again to her private room with the view she can't see through, with the beeping that tells us nothing new, and all these ice chips she can't swallow, and a flood of well-intentioned nurses who cannot do a damned thing all the same.

It Only Took One Minute.......
It only took a minute. I was sitting at the computer in my office when the phone rang. I picked up the receiver and then laid it down my desk as I went to find the student who the call was for. Within seconds I was back at my desk, ready to resume typing, when I heard the student yelling obscenities at me for listening in to his call through the handset that was still lying on the desk. Sick and tired of the lies he was spewing, I was up running down the hall, ready to kill him. By the time I reached him, I had calmed enough not to hurt him, but as I turned back towards my room, I knew that I couldn’t go on like this any longer. The decision was clear. I had to leave.
