Cosmic Alignment

I rather enjoy this fascination of Soul Mates

It is a rarity, yes, but undeniably existential

This belief that throughout the cosmos

There is one star whose gravitational force is so strong

That it can pull you out of pure darkness

And into its influence

Enlightening you and your every corner

With such magnificent power

That life itself can manifest and flourish

I rather enjoy this belief of Soul Mates

This understanding that you and this person

Knew of each other before time began

The idea that the very atoms that govern both bodies

Were together before the Big Bang

And the uncountable amount of years it took for reunification

And the joy that comes from it

I rather enjoy this idea of Soul Mates

Because as I stare at the night sky

And observe the far distant lights

I understand that though they may be long gone

Their light still manages to reach me
