Coping Mechanisms

A Poem

She became engulfed in her solitude

Lost in her darkness

Emptied of expectations

So

She drank to fill her sorrows

Of yesterday’s today’s and tomorrow’s

She liked the way it burned her throat and numbed her senses

The liquor made her forget for a while

It occupied the void they left

When she was drunk everyone liked her

Cause she no longer had to hide behind her introvert

Hennessy was her therapist

With each sip she regurgitated oceans of repressed memories
