Constant Battle for Self

Will it ever end?

crippling pain

it's always the same

"it hurts"

"where?" he says

"everywhere," she whispers almost out of breath

She's been feeling like this for 7 straight days

The pain is both physical and mental

He tries to cheer her up but it never works

this is not the sort of pain you get over with a song, a hug, a kiss

no

he tries to understand, why she's in constant pain, why it seems like she's going insane

he thinks he's to blame.

he's not

her pain stems from deep within

her demons, ever so often, crawls out of the pit,

spewing fear, rage, anger, hatred.

in her mind is a constant battle for self

she knows not who or what she is

She resents the girl in the mirror

he tells her she's beautiful

her only reply is, "I respect your opinion"
