Compliments

She asked me to give her a compliment.

And I scratched my brains for anything that would suffice.

I could call her eyes the sun and her smile the eternal truth.

I could have compared her voice to the song of the sirens.

Or her scent to that of the Holy Flower.

But no words would have been enough.

So I simply told her the truth.

“You are so beautiful, that I'm proud of how insecure you make me feel.”
