Lack of confidence destroyed me

I never let anyone in my zone

Choked by the breath we breathe

It was better to be alone

I was afraid of my own shadow

But everyone else was worse

Asking me why I’m so shallow

Their judgment was a curse

I became an empty shell

Forced to walk this world

It was the equivalent of hell

Although it felt cold

I was another book on the shelf

Until I met you, I wanted to hide

Always unsure about myself

And lacking pride

But now, I stand out of the crowd

And feel better than I’ve ever felt

I want to make you proud

And cause your heart melt

You’ve shown me a side of life

I was ready to say goodbye to

You came in shining bright

To make my dreams come true

Confidence and trust

Shelter and safety

And love making till dusk

I never gave thought to the future
