Coming of Age

Poetry

Young love is failure after failure, dark,

wrong, and meaningless. Developing each

emotion in a twisted, tangled mark.

Complicated, dramatic as a leech

Sucking away energy and life from

everyone involved. Immature people

who only need to learn to love from

experience, falling from a steeple.

Once the lesson is learned, love transforms

into a beautiful, fulfilling feeling

of safety and warmth, no need for conforms.

Acceptance and truth can begin healing

the scars of young love. Mature lovers make

the promise to be kept, for success to take.
