Comfort of a Chair
An Elderly Man Waking to Another Day

Dust bugs flying wildly
In the window's morning sun,
It is time to wake already?
Another day…
I hate the feel of mornings
That first movement…
Bones that ache violently,
From the days when I was young.
Sounds of morning happenings
They are right outside my door,
But that can wait…
But then again.
That first cup of coffee
Hot to the touch and taste,
Bitter, it may be…
But it seems to fit the pace.
I light a cigarette
Blow smoke rings in the air,
Sometimes life ain’t so bad…
From the comfort of a chair.
