Colors

For Those Who Can See

I fear for my future children,

And for the children of others.

That they’ll grow up,

In a world that doesn’t recognize colors.

Always fighting. Always mad.

That is NOT the dream we had.

I fear for my children,

That they won’t be as cultured,

Stuck behind phones disguised as a curtain.

Rather inside hidden away,

Than outdoors creating games to play.

My biggest fear is not only for my kin,

But for everyone,

Everyone living and breathing.

How can life be when everyone’s angry,

Suppressed their thoughts deep within,

I wish they’d get hungry.

Hungry for knowledge,

And for what the world has to share.

Why feel anything if you can’t feel it so strong?

Why live life the same day to day?

Waiting each week for the money to roll in.

I fear for my future children,

And for the children of others.

They’re going to grow up,

In a world without colors.
