They said Love is sweet, I believed them
But I was never told Love had a sour taste underneath
They said Love would conquer all, I listened
But I was never told that Love also conquered sanity
They said Love is real, I understood
But I was never told Love was also a mirage that hoots
They said Love frees you, I believed
But I was never told that love binds you to your promises
They said Love is the strongest force
But they never said falling in love could lead to my downfall
They said Love is a bond, I did understand
But they never told me that with jealousy, it never stands
They said Love and Time heals, I listened
But they never said that "Hurt" might have me as its victims
Love is the most beautiful thing, they said
But I was never told it could lead to an ugly scenario
Trust your heart not your head in Love, they said
But never said I would need my head when my heart was in trouble
They said love brought forth countless joy
But I was not of the knowledge that tears were inevitable
First rule of love is "do not be jealous", they preached
But I realized Love and Jealousy was the total package
You would find the "right" girl, I was told
But I was never told the right girl may have "Left"
When you are in love, you will know, they said
But I was never told that knowing you're in love gave birth to heartaches
But all in all, I'm prepared for when love comes
It might have already hit me once or twice
Suddenly bringing forth emptiness and nothingness
But I believe when, My Lady, all fair and pretty drives by
All "They" said would come true in a flash of light
But could it ever happen all the same?
Well, till then, I rather stick to the singles lane.
