Clouds

For Those Who Can See

“What’s your favorite thing to look at?”

She’d always ask me,

I’d respond with a sly smile,

“You of course.”

She’d roll her eyes and say,

“No. Out there. In the world?”

I tended to say different things each time...

But today,

Today it was the clouds.

Not from the ground looking up,

But from the sky looking down.

I always wondered how something so simple,

So beautiful and calming,

Looking like an ocean of never ending white,

Had the largest impact on our little world.

I have also wondered if others thought the same of such simple things,

Or if they simply looked with their sight and not with their eyes.

I never got tired of that view,

Never tired of the great peace it brought me.

So that’s what I told her,

“The clouds, my dear.”

She’d smile and always say,

“That’s beautiful.”
