Close Your Eyes

Kiss me in my dreams.

Look at me

Close your eyes

When I close my eyes you appear like a ghost

When I close my eyes, every wrong word I have ever said to you is played back

When I close my eyes, I can feel every one of your tears falling down my face

When I close my eyes, I can smell your beauty

When I close my eyes, I can feel all the pain I've caused you

When I close my eyes, I can see our future and past both slipping away

When I close my eyes, I can feel your disconnect

Your heart is lonely

You have been betrayed

My words which used to sweep you like leaves in a summer breeze

They now push you away into yourself

Where did you go

Hello?

I can see your eyes and your lips

They quiver because someone turned their back on you

someone you love

You've been slain

You've been abused

I can see your scars beneath your skin

And your heart all over the floor

We look at each other

we can see our past in each other's eyes

I look into your beautiful brown eyes and I can see every good and bad moment we've ever shared

When I close my eyes I'm with you

Now open

What do you see?

I see me

And none of you

Now I close my eyes again.
