City Lights 2.
You’ve had a thing for the city lights
And all you wanted to do was write.
You never finished yours before
The ink decided to dry and
Your book was put on stand by.
Making people laugh was what you did best,
And you were always best dressed.
There were so many what ifs
And plans made that fell through.
The day of graduation just wasn’t the same
Without you.
The sleepless city was quiet,
And the city lights weren’t so bright.
I did see Chris Evans,
He played a bad guy but I mean
C’mon, he looks good in a bow tie.
I haven’t been back to see the Windy City
Can you say hi to Sears for me?
I know you’re okay but
Things just aren’t the same.
Life goes on, what can you do.
All that’s left is a memory of you.
Crazy how the photographs
Bring back a time when you were alive.
You were my sunshine on a cloudy day,
Oh, I wish you could’ve stayed.
I wish I could go back in time,
Not to change anything,
Just relive some of our best times.
In a blink of an eye, my life had changed.
Who knew that would be our last goodnight?
I watched my world fall apart
And all I could do was stare.
Those narrow halls and light blue walls
Became home shortly after the fall.
I know you’re okay but
Please stay with me.
