Cigarette Aftermath

...

I grew up with cigarette smoke revolving around me

As I got older cigarettes never intrigued me as much

it was only until I met you

The way you hold your cigarette as it gets to kiss your lips

is truly a work of art

We stood out on the balcony under the same shining stars and the full moon above us

I couldn’t help but to admire your presence

The way that cigarette seemed to give you life

and in a way it helped your demons be tamed

The smoke was killing all the pain inside you

as your head was filled with unfinished thoughts

you took my hand and pulled me closer to you

neither on us wanted to put out that cigarette

but you kissed me and suddenly I was intoxicated by the sweet

yet bitter taste of your cigarette

Now you are hundreds of miles away

and all I am left with is the memory of the way you smoke your cigarette

along with the ashes of that night on your balcony.
