A Poem

They’re in my head

The monsters filling me with dread

And a game’s being played but I don’t know the rules

And I’ve gotta make a choice but I don’t know what to choose

I have to play the game but I’m not sure what I’ll lose

Which way does the queen move?

Which direction does the pawn go?

The monsters in my head just want me dead

Their voices shout and echo

They vibrate my soul

I feel like I’m standing still

Yet I’m being beckoned from all directions

Why do we have to pick and choose? Why do I feel like I’m meant to lose?

Which way does the King move?

Which direction does the knight go?

I don’t know what do to, yet I’m meant to pick and choose

Alone with the demons picking at my brain

I’m standing still not knowing what to do

What do I do? Why do we have to pick and choose? Why do I feel I’m meant to lose?

Which way does the rook move?

Which direction does the bishop go?

I don’t know what do to, yet I’m meant to pick and choose

Feel like I’m meant to lose no matter which path I choose.
