Chemical Imbalances

This poem is about mental health issues and stubborn people.

Chemical imbalances rule her mind.

Her mind is a prison filled with snakes and vines.

Only she can cut the vines away from her foggy eyes.

No one else can make her see the monster she has become.

She lurks in the darkness of her cell.

Waiting to pounce on her prey.

Only her prey is caring friends.

Who took it upon themselves to pull her towards the light and out of her darkness.

Who took the time to tell her that they loved her,

And would always be there for her.

She kicks, scratches and bites.

Because she does not want to change.

She speaks highly of this change,

That she refuses to embrace.

She uses trickery to fool others.

She is all talk and no game.

Her words are meaningless.

She lacks follow through.

She wallows in her misery.

With only herself to blame.

And turns on those,

who once thought that they mattered.

She cares for no one but herself.
