Chasm

On Dying Love

Baby there's no doubt I'm in love with you

And we both know you feel the same about me

It's so agonizing how we don't connect

You're so close I can feel your heart beat

But you're so far I just can't touch you

I send you my love and it ricochets back to me

You throw me your love and it just boomerangs

What keeps us apart aren't walls, my love

If they were, we could easily demolish them

What separates us, my love is a chasm

Try I have, but I'm finding it impossible to bridge

Our love is strong but this divide is proving to be stronger

The agony is killing me from deep inside

Emptying me of every semblance of life

Our love must not be of the kind that never was

Again I try to cross the divide but I fall short

My life's energy is ebbing out without you

The edges of my vision are turning black

I'm reaching out to you, give my your hand

Are those your fingertips just within reach?

My heart is only beating very faintly now

I just have to reach a little farther

The darkness is encroaching my vision

I can't see anything anymore

Are you still there, my love?

.....nothingness......

Words give me life and there's no other form of perfection that comes close to painting exact and vivid pictures with words.

That's what I try to do each and every time I pen down poetry.
