Chased Away by Fire

Breathing Life into the Fire That Haunts You

I can hear your voice crack in your broken prayers

Wishing upon a star that's galaxies away

Holding that cross necklace in your hand

It's hot to the touch from the fire in your eyes

I realize I'm the one who started it

I poured gasoline on the match box in your chest

Strike a match and it burns a violent fire

Our infatuation burned hot and short

I could feel the heat on the back of my neck

Chasing me down a burning hallway

Each ash landing on my skin

The cloud of grey smog filling my lungs

The gentle roar from the blaze

Slowly growing louder with each breath

Every time I got close enough to hear you breathe

Who knew I'd be feeding the fire that chased me away

Love and anger both glow crimson red

You glance at me and I feel your piercing gaze

How do you wash the blood off those daggers in your eyes

I'm sorry my love is what taught you how to hate
