Change Your Ways

It's Not Me...It's You

Have you ever felt that you have given everything that you got?

Only to receive the ungrateful and the individuals who feel entitled

Throw dirt on your name… just sit around just to plot

Oh no…you used to be different…I do not like the new you

The previous me was filled with love, giving, and always there for everyone

Yet miss one offering and they say now we are through (family, friends, relationships)

It seems such a dishonor when someone gives their last

Unfortunately, everyone is not the same...and will suck you dry

While you on empty and they are living a blast

How can you be so thoughtless is what some may say?

Until you walked in my shoes…All I did was pay

Yet with stress and worries will leave my head gray

Get over it…I have why don’t you carry on the same

I still love you, but we must learn how to communicate

For every time I cannot be left the one to blame

I forgive even after the dirt has been thrown on my name

Nevertheless, I have accepted that it’s not me…it’s you

All along your actions changed…it just simply was not the same

Life comes with trials and we must all go through it

I just thought since I had your back the feeling was mutual

Oh no there is silence…it hurt just a bit

Treat people the way that you want to be treated

It is not ever a one-way street one must follow

Saying sorry does not mean that you have been defeated

It shows maturity and letting pride go

So, when you look at the man in the mirror

Then you can say…I am a righteous man…this I know
