Change Your Story, While You Still Have a Story to Change💭

A Poem

Where to begin,

you're 22 living in a new place.

Surrounded by a city of wonder and dreams.

This is what you wanted right?

Of course, but what in life was I meant to do?

I know it wasn't sitting at a 9-5 desk job all day long

Things take time and experience.

The jobs you have here and there are buliding character.

Right now you're affording your lovely new apartment and that's all you can ask for when you move away from home.

Even if you arent doing what you came out here to do

do not give up and quit.

It takes aspiring actors decades to start there career in LA or New York.

So don't let the beautiful city of Pittsburgh let you down because you're not doing your dream job at the age of 22 or 23.

Live your life now, you're young and you have time.

Even if you see people, friends, family doing what they love now doesn't mean it won't happen for you in the future.

Most 22 year olds can't say they moved away from home and now live on there own.

So be proud of the person you are becoming along this journey of growing up and becoming a true adult.

Even though it's hard when you miss your family and t your best friends you grew up with.

They are still your best friends, but we are all just a lot more busy now and that's life.

Friendship last a lifetime ❣️

So even if you're 5 hours away you still have the people you are grew up with, with you.

They're only a text or phone call away.

You wanted this remember?

You came here to start your life with your special someone you see spending forever with and to find a career you are going to want to spend the rest of your days doing.

Even if it's not happening for you now, know that it will.

It takes work and dedication not to lose motivation.

When things don't go your way that doesn't mean stop and lose hope.

It means stop and take a breath and try again.

Don't settle for less when you worked for so much more.

Don't waste a degree on a job that requires no degree, just to take the easy way out of working hard.

If you fail try again, if you fail twice try again.

You think every doctor passed their exams right away?

You think every lawyer passed their Boards right away?

No!

So stop settling and hustle for the career you really want.

Stop doing things just to make other people happy and proud.

Do something that makes you feel that way, even if that means quitting a 9-5 job you can't stand.

Don't surround yourself with people who boss you around and treat you poorly for their benefit of not knowing what they want either.

Surround yourself with good friends and family who are going to tell you the truth about how tough life really is and the potential they see in you to be more than what you settle for.

You want people to push you, not baby you.

Be with someone who makes you stronger and wiser and doesn't treat you like you're an idiot.

If you get sugar coated advice for the rest of your life you'll never be who you want and you'll never have the passion to chase that dream.

Don't have friends who set lower standards for you because that don't expect more from you.

All these things here, you learn from yourself and your experiences, no one else can make decisions for you unless you let them.

Once you start letting them, that's when you've already given up.

So stop letting other people tell you how to live your life or how to do this or that.

Trust your own opinion and listen to those friends who tell you the truth to make you a better a person.

Not those people who can't stand to be honest with you because it will make them look bad (in their opinion)

So go chase that dream with people behind you who want to see you succeed and be better.

Get rid of toxic situations and people in your life who are holding you back and having you settle for less.
