Chance

Maybe it's finally my time.

Guide her through her struggles. Aid her through her pain. That girl is stuck forever in the broken hearted lane.

Free him of his foolishness. Help him see what’s true. That girl loves him and only him; she’ll never love a few.

They’ve pulled and pushed each other. Back and forth. Left and right. The knot between them has grown way too tight.

He doesn’t see. And she won’t tell. But he’s the only reason she ever left her shell.

She’s too stubborn. Too afraid to take a chance. But she hopes one day they’ll be together, happy and able to prance.

They’ll prance and dance about. Wrapped up in each other’s steam. But forever only in her dreams.

Another has shown himself. Given her attention and love. She feels trapped; almost like a domesticated dove.

She wants nothing more than one for herself. For him to love her; for their hearts to beat as one. She sees no other choice, but to let go; and let him know he’s won.

He’s played her from the start. Made her believe she could be his. Gave her false hope; trapped her in temporary bliss.

But she’s seeing clearly now, way better than before. The other might be her chance. A chance to have more.

A chance to be happy. A chance to be loved. A chance to be fixed. A chance to be a free dove.
