Chained Hound

A Wolf Who Waits for the Impeding Twilight...

XXIII. V. MMXVIII - Fetters

Amidst the pile of bones and flesh

That also circles around like encroaching walls,

The lone wolf sat on its belly, drooling in his lake,

Denied freedom, forever stuck in chains that he wishes

He could remove, yet he prolongs a battle he can’t win

With threads made from footfalls and mountain roots.

Instead, in haste and rage, he must remain till the day

When thrice rooster calls across all domains—

Along with the swallowing of stars and the shaking

Of celestial plains—rip apart such fetters and metal rings,

Freeing the wolf from such infernal chains.

Fenrisulfr; the Slayer of the Allfather; bearer of moon-swallower

And sun-chaser; sibling of Jormungandr the World-Serpent;

Wolf of the Final Twilight.
