Cerise Nonpareil
A Love Lost to Allegory
A single spike struck heavenwardLuminescent, a radiant lightA desperate gleam in the shadowsOf a dark and moonless night
Reaching out to touch itNary a care had ICaressing it, my finger bledDrops as red as evening sky
Down the crystal did it flowLifeblood's endless dewTo sink into the ground belowAnd feed the stone anew
Glimmering, it sank withinInto the thirsty soilScarlet pearls of precious bloodLike an ermine royal
With wide eyes did I watchThe crystal change and growWhat once was peaceful and azureHad now a crimson glow
It called to me, it rang withinCalling, calling my heartThis carmine crystal temptressWas tearing me apart
It coiled and it whisperedRansomed secrets full of fearIt clutched its' claws round my soulHolding it near and dear
Hostage was I To this sanguine jewelA silly maiden Made an utter fool
Vermilion I bled that dayVermilion, I fledMy heart, a shattered masterpieceMy hopes of true love dead
Slowly, as the years go by, I slowly forget his faceBut ne'er shall I forget the day a crystal took love's place.
