Do you remember ‘Castle?’
With your brother,
Your cousins,
Your Sister, not yet born
I was Queen,
You all the little Knights
HA!
That’s what happens when you live
Isolated, A little unhappy
With an imagination,
Lots of sticks for swords
Old clothes, Kool-Aid
And Abandoned silk
OH!, little Knights!
You, the tiniest
Fighting imaginary invaders
(At my command of course)
Shadows we could not see
As Queen,
One is responsible for her subjects
And yet… I couldn’t protect you
As the thread came for your neck
So I hang up my crown,
Fold up the old clothes, the forgotten silk
Poison the Kool-Aid,
Break those sticks
That were swords,
Darken the imagination
Curling up in isolation
Detesting who tied the rope
Believe me, it wasn’t you
Little knight, the tiniest
Fighting real invaders
That the rest of us never knew
And never witnessed
I burned the Castle to the ground
To start again…
I hope you’ve built your own now too
-Love, your cousin, "Mortis"
