"The smell of you leaks into the atmosphere..."
The smell of you leaks into the atmosphere and even though it’s been raining for days you still manage to find me after all this way. I’ve kept the pictures of that perfect day but in a sudden cloudy haze they tore into each other until nothing was left save for shredded memories.
Yet they still cling to the inside of my pockets.
I’ve got a locket.
And behind the silver walls there’s a secret even I don’t know the meaning of yet. It sparkles every time you’re mentioned though. It hasn’t sparkled in months. The winter’s chill struck me deep in my bones and all through the cold I thought it was unfair to be left alone, no sight of home. But then I realized that you were no longer a safe place and I could warm myself anyways. What I’m trying to say is even though I love the rain,
I still take out my umbrella when it threatens me.
You’re kind of like that, too.
