But I Love Them

A Simple Poem About the Struggle of Modern Love

I feel the chains surrounding me and my world

I feel my emotions being constricted by society

I feel the ugly judgement and disapproval

But I know the truth

But I love Them

I walk down the street with them beside me

I walk down the street with a happiness like no other

I walk down the street with a deep need to grab their hand

But I do not make a move

But I love Them

I see the way they look at me

I see the way others look at us

I see the way we sit so close and exact

But I know we cannot be closer

But I love Them

This word love is so complex

This word love is so different for each person and yet

This word love is so exact in everyone's mind

But love is how I feel in all it's definitions

But I love Them

This world does not understand us

This world does not support us

This world does not allow us to be ourselves

But I know in my soul one day we can be real

But I love Them
