Burning Through Youth

The death of a youth is among the hardest things to face.

Youth and Death meet as well.

To take a life and throw it,

When it seems hard to take.

There’s nothing left so blow it.

When you can no longer be fake.

The sad end begins with a headline.

The press people clamor to view the scene.

All else may seem so fine.

But the reality seems so mean.

Whenever a young star falls,

The wise might grow wiser.

And even when Death calls,

You employ an atomizer.

The pain may not be brief,

And the charms may still be few.

But through all of the grief,

Count what you must do.

The day of excess is here.

Keep close those you hold dear.
