You're broken and beautiful.
I know you don't believe me,
just wait, you see.
That dysfunctional family you came from,
who offered you no hope, or useful crumb,
taught you something.
They taught you what you don't want for your future.
Your alcoholic mother,
she taught you that the bottle was not the right guide.
Your abusive father,
he taught you that anger doesn't go away by inflicting pain.
Your ex lovers,
they taught you that hearts mend over time,
even painful memories do fade.
The bullies from grade school,
they taught you that they were really just riddled with insecurities.
Your older sibling who molested you,
they taught you that forgiveness is possible,
even though they never asked for it.
Through the shattered shards of your heart,
they've been taken by One who knew a beautiful way,
to use them and turn them into something beautiful.
There is no denying that you're broken,
but in time you have been made beautiful.
