Boys

Boys tease you when they like you.

That's what they said to me.

"but I don't like it"

I replied.

"I don't like that kind of thing."

Boys will be boys

they all exclaim.

But that seems a bit unfair.

girls will be girls does not exist,

no one says that anywhere.

They don't turn boys to gentlemen.

They control our clothes instead.

But it's just a clever ruse

to hide the guilt inside their heads.

Boys will be boys,

no, I don't think that's fine.

Boys should be clever and tough but kind.

because when your daughter meets a man,

you'll hope he treats her right.
