Bout Day

Yesterday I was someone else.

I was a façade

I was a fraction of myself that I show to others

On other days, I am a mother or a student or an office clerk

Yesterday I pushed my lips together closed off my voice as my boss reprimanded me for his mistake

The day before that I spilled coffee on myself in an elevator when someone bumped into me

And the day before that I was looked at by a stranger who judged me unfairly

But today is different

Today I am a warrior who moves like lightning

And roars like a tiger

Today I will push and hit my way towards my goal with unyielding force

I will dance on my toes and leap into the air like an Eagle

Today I am Fearless.

Today I am Sabotage incarnate.

For today is bout day.

On bout day, I am truly and completely me.

So, strap on your wheels, clip your helmet to your head and scream like thunder

Because it is Bout Day and we will not be held back.
