Book Lover

A Poem

Page after page, the distinct smell did not leave her senses. The old, faded pages were soft on the pads of her fingertips until there no longer were any to turn by her gentle touch. The pages were gone and her heart sank a little as she came to the realization that she now has to begin another book and become attached, yet again, to the fictional characters she carried around inside her book bag. She considered them her friends, these characters. She had glimpsed into their lives and they would forever be etched into her memory, up until the day she leaves this world and carries onto the next. And even then, these characters will dance into the stars and be cast back down to the archives of the next generation that will remember them as well. These new souls will be parallel with hers; an audience to the personalities grown on the roots of this earth.
