This Blue Bird was given to me by my late Grandmother, Marilyn Dittloff.
Blue Bird
In yonder tree there waits for me/ A little birdie blue/ sing for me a melody/ Sweeter than honeydew.
This little birdie I love so dear/ It never will draw near I fear/ But never could I hear a song like this/ sweeter than an angel's kiss.
This little birdie I love him so/ More than he shall ever know/ But since he is a wild thing/ I must let him go.
Little, little Birdie Blue/ Do you love me too?/ Would that I could gaze upon your face/ And see your body full of grace/ All whilst wishing/ It were I who could take your place/ And fly from here to another place!
Little Birdie where are you?/ I have been searching so for you!/ You were not at play today/ Or resting quiet in your nest/ I looked in all your favorite places you love best/ My little birdie blue-breast.
Where have you gone/ And what have you done?/ My little Birdies lost/ It is a friendship I can never replace/ Of irreplaceable cost.
