Blue

My Favorite Color

The color of ocean and sky

The beauty in his eye

Makes me think of the clouds in the air

And how I wish I could run my fingers through his hair

I want to feel serene and calm

When our hands are touching palm to palm

Then the beauty of the blues all around

Seem to darken when he doesn’t make a sound

Everything is now like midnight

Dark and cold when he is out of sight

The warmth and tenderness that made me feel so grand

Is absent and heartbreaking like the bitterness of sand

He doesn’t call, he doesn’t write

It’s been a year now

And yet the times of the happy blues pull at my heart somehow

I see his smile and those piercing blue eyes in my mind

Wondering whether he was really ever by my side

I sit on the beach, waves crashing at my feet

Then next to me a familiar face takes a seat

There was silence and tears

Which I never wished to show

Until he looks into my eyes and says “I know”

He cries as well, as he embraces me

The overwhelming feelings we both can see

We watch the sunset, hearts beating as one

My new favorite color now being that of the sun
