I am a Black Woman,
With a capital B,
My blood contains magic,
From the Kings and Queens,
Of Africa.
I wear my mane,
As my crown,
My mahogany skin,
Holds power from the
Brightest star, the sun.
My body houses,
The magical spirits,
Of my ancestors,
Who fought to protect,
Our own.
I am a Black Woman,
I am neither bitter,
Nor angry.
I am loud,
Because I want my,
Voice to be heard.
I love endlessly,
I nurture unconditionally,
I hold the force,
To birth kings,
And raise queens.
Who will fight to protect,
Their own.
I am a Black Woman,
My big lips,
Spills words so strong,
That it’ll shift tectonic plates,
My cocoa eyes hold the secrets,
Of our history,
The map to hope,
And the guide to freedom.
I am a Black Woman,
Whose body is admired by all,
Blessed with curves that sway,
And moves like silk in the wind,
Cheekbones that sit high,
Roars I am regal,
And a walk,
To let everyone know,
An empress is in their presence.
I am all Black Women,
Who had been raped,
Beaten,
Battered,
And killed,
And through the melancholy,
We are expected to smile,
To keep our head high,
And love our abusers,
Unbrokenly.
I am a Black Woman,
Forced to grow up,
Too fast,
Because we have been,
Stripped away from our fathers,
By the hands of the law.
Having to realize that,
In essence,
We are not truly free,
Having the burden,
To work twice as hard,
Because I am a woman,
And I am Black.
Having to be extraordinary,
While seeking for the,
Hidden sledgehammer,
To break the glass ceilings.
I am a Black Woman,
I cry for my Sisters,
And march for my Brothers.
I plant my feet firm,
In the space of the law,
We will not be oppressed,
We will not be broken.
I am a Black Woman,
Known to be,
The strongest of all women,
Resilient,
Is used to describe,
My underlying benevolence,
Though my heart is in agony,
It still give its love completely.
I am a Black Woman,
Vulnerable,
Naked,
And tired,
Wondering,
Who is going to love me,
Entirely.
