Love-Drunk

When our hearts beat, yours close to mine,

I feel the sensation that all will be fine.

Love’s a mystery, so I follow my heart,

It’s found you to keep me from falling apart.

What is happiness, what is joy?

Something that relieves the need to destroy.

You make me feel so very young,

Like spring has sprung, and bells have rung.

I give you my heart because you deserve it,

And I’d give anything just to preserve it.

This love has been heavily inflicted,

It makes me conflicted, but I’m addicted.

I’ll never take what you do for granted,

And never leave you to feel abandoned.

I’m love-drunk, yeah, drunk off your love.

Intoxication I’d never get sick of.

Your smile and gaze, they’re one-of-a-kind,

You’re stuck in my head, always on my mind.

I think of you throughout the day,

It makes my troubles wash away.

The heart wants what it will want,

It’s hard to act so nonchalant.

People find love in mysterious ways,

When we’re apart, hours feel like days.

When we’re alone, hours feel like seconds,

When time runs short, my heart still beckons.

Other girls don’t please me, I must confess,

They mean nothing, cuz you shine the best.

I’m not much a romantic, but you can make a man tic.

Buried in your embrace, a pleasant sense of frantic.

You take my breath away, asthmatic,

You make my heart tremble, traumatic.

Your touch is like static, your scent, aromatic,

Your lips drive me manic, this love is automatic.
